On 27th of July this year, a truck full of explosives (followed by a motorbike carrying the same), caused devastation in the Kurdish city of Qamishlo, Syria, in the very same neighbourhood where Alsham founder and chef, Shivan, grew up. The explosion, which DAESH/ISIL has claimed responsibility for, killed over 70 men, women and children, wounded hundreds, and destroyed all homes within a 1km radius, leaving scores of families bereaved, homeless and with nothing to be able rebuild their lives.
Alsham is therefore hosting an evening of delicious food, beverages, and music in solidarity with those affected, to celebrate the resilience of families trying to rebuild their homes and their lives, and to raise as much funds as possible to send directly to families affected in Qamishlo in aid of their efforts to do so.
The meal is ticketed via eventbrite which is free, but numbers a limitied. We would however suggest a donation of £10 per person if possible.
All welcome to attend for drinks and music without ticket purchase.
