Community Empowerment at Kinning Park Complex

In 1996 the Kinning Park Complex was occupied for 55 days and nights by local families, successfully preventing its closure by the council. In 2017 it celebrated 21 years as an independently run community space.

Currently the centre is run by a small staff team with a board of directors who decide how the Kinning Park Complex operates; but we want to give more of these decisions to the community, that could be you! Kinning Park Complex is currently a Community Interest Company (CIC). We are transitioning to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). Our current board of Directors will be the initial trustees of the SCIO and within 16 months the new membership scheme will enable those members to elect a new Board.

This year we aim to buy the building and renovate it in summer 2019. On Sunday can tell you more about this process.

WHY BECOME A MEMBER OF KPC?

- Have a say on how the building operates.
- Decide upon projects and activities happening in the centre.
- Elect and stand for board and committee positions.

To be eligible to become a member you must be over 18. 80% of the members will be made up of residents within the G41 and G51 areas. If you live outside this postcode feel free to come along as you can still apply.

Come along to hear more about our plans to buy the building, renovations and how you can have your say by becoming a member.
Lunch available
Kids craft activities and face painting too!
ALL WELCOME!
