We’re excited to announce that we’ve been selected as one of six organisations to join climate change charity 10:10 in an exciting new campaign. We’re embarking on a mission to put solar panels on our roof – and we need your help! Following Prince’s death just over a year ago, it was revealed that he was a bit of a secret philanthropist.
It was best put by his close friend Van Jones: ‘The world needs to know that it wasn’t just the music – there are people who have solar panels right now on their houses in Oakland, California that don’t know Prince paid for them.’
Prince wanted everyone to have clean energy. Now 10:10 want to honour his legacy and they’ve invited us to be part of the celebration. Up until June 7th, along with 10:10 and five other groups who embody community, creativity & social justice we’re part of an effort to raise £50,000. The money will fund solar panels for us and the other groups to cut our energy bills so we can spend more on the important work we do.
With your help, we’ll be able to make our beautiful 110 year old building more sustainable which has always been an aim of Kinning Park Complex! The money we save through our solar panels will go to enhancing the space we have by making long term necessary renovations to our ceilings and walls. We will be making an effort to increase the accessibility of the top floors of our building. As it stands, only the ground floor is wheelchair accessible and we would like to incorporate a lift so that everyone has an equal opportunity to use the space . The savings from this great project will also go to continuing our existing programme of events, activities and community work.
Can you help us access free, clean energy? Donate and join the new power generation!
