Kinning Park Complex is partnering with Repair Café Glasgow to run 4 online workshops to help people mend clothes and electrical items.

REPAIR ELECTRICAL ITEMS
SAVE THE PLANET
Thursday 1 April 2-3:30pm
This 90-minute zoom workshop explores textile repair on knitted and wool textiles, some basic ways to put together your favourite knitted items. This workshop is suitable for beginners and more experienced menders alike.
Tools Needed: Sewing needle (preferably with a rounded tip), Yarn or thread in similar thickness to that of what you are repairing. You can try and match the colour and thickness of the item, or choose a different colour for more visible mend. Something rounded to keep underneath such as an apple, a ladle or darning egg/mushroom. And of course, a woollen item to mend. (KPC can provide needle/yarn/ thread)
REPAIR ADVICE SURGERY -
BATTERY OR PLUG
Saturday 10 and 24 April from 11am
RCG Volunteers (4 - 6 people) will lead this 2-hour zoom fixers question time, in which participants are given 20-minute slots (6 attendants) to propose their problem with their household items powered by a battery or a plug.
Our volunteers will offer repair solutions and helpful advice on the best way to fix their device. Our volunteers have expertise in everything from toasters and lamps to laptops. No tools are required, however, if the participant wants to attempt the repair while on the call they will be able to with their own tools.
(KPC can provide the tools)
DARNING WITH DEIRDRE
Thursday 15 April 2-3:30pm
Glasgow based textile artist and active member of the
RCG community, Deirdre Nelson will lead the participants in a 90-minute darning workshop via zoom. Join us in mending or upcycling your favourite garments.
You can mend your item, visibly and we will also show you invisible mending if you’re after a more subtle approach to your mending. This workshop is suitable
for beginners and more experienced menders alike. Tools Needed: Embroidery Thread/ Yarn, Pins, Sewing and Darning needles, Darning Mushroom & Embroidery Hoops (if you have one), and of course something to repair. (KPC can provide all the necessary tools)
